roadThe Phuentsholing Thrompon has assured that by January 2013, the road leading to Kabreytar in Phuentsholing will be black-topped and residents along with those travelling the route can enjoy the road.

Be that as it may, residents today, especially the drivers are complaining about the road which is worse than a feeder road. And so the uneven Kabreytar road few kilometers away from the town now is a cause of concern for residents living there.

Some of the residents said that even taxi drivers have refused to travel this road as the road is so terrible and some also said that if the road is not maintained the problem can lead to accidents too.

Talking to The Bhutanese, the Phuentsholing Thrompon Tsheten Dorji said “within this week the drains lying beside the roads will be underground. It is the water pipes, which is the cause of the problem. Once it is underground the problem will be solved. We have explained to the public and timing has been set up for the travelers to travel due to narrow nature of the road”.

“It will take time for the road to be maintained and people should bear with us for the time being, since it is the new road,” the Thrompon added.

The road construction is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Talking to some of the people, Mr. Namgay who works in the Bank of Bhutan (BoB) said, “the way is not good enough for vehicles to pass and moreover our vehicle gets muddier and with the last year’s earthquake the road has completely been destroyed”.

Dorji Khandu, a health worker in Phuentsholing said. “Comparatively, the road seems pretty good and okay”.
