2 girls arrested for larceny

Thimphu police arrested two underage girls on 24 December from Khasadrapchu in connection with larceny. Police received a complaint from an owner of a shop near the clock tower stating that a handbag containing Nu 90,000 and 435 US$ has been stolen in the morning of 23 December 2016.

The two girls are sisters, aged 14 and 16.

The owner came to police station with CCTV footage as an evidence of the crime.

The elder sister was the one who stole the bag from the shop while the younger sister accompanied her. Police recovered 435 US$ and Nu10,000 from them. They had spent the rest of the money buying things which the police has seized.

The two sisters are on bail.
