25-year-old arrested for stabbing ex girlfriend

Thimphu police apprehended a 25-year-old man for stabbing his 24-year-old ex girlfriend on 20 November. The suspect is from Thinleygang, Punakha while the ex-girlfriend who was stabbed is from Pemagatshel.

The police received a phone call from the victim’s friend to report the stabbing.

The incident took place in the Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) office at around 12:50 PM on the same day. The victim and her friend (staff mate) were having lunch when the suspect stabbed her on her inner right thigh, just below the lower abdomen. The staff in the office then evacuated her to hospital and she was admitted in the emergency ward due to excessive bleeding. However, she was discharged from the hospital in the evening.

Police said that the suspect went to her office and stabbed her. After stabbing her, he fled from the crime scene and went underground after which the policewere on the lookout for him.

Police managed to arrest him on 22 November towards eveningin town. They said that the suspect carried a knife in his pocket. Police said that, for now, the case has been booked under stabbing while it may differ after the investigation.

The victim is working in DNT office while the suspect is unemployed. However, he does part time work in the film industry as a crew member. The suspect was her ex-boyfriend whereby he was harassing her since their breakup. Suspect is being held under detention for further investigation.
