The opening ceremony of the “2nd Gakyed Gatoen – Festival of Happiness” was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister for Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Chief Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Bhutan Office on 6th January 2017 at Ariya Hotel, Thimphu. The catalogue for the festival was also launched during the occasion.
The festival celebrates the joys of self-employment and has aptly been named “Gakyed Gatoen – Festival of Happiness”. It is also an occasion to appreciate the contributions by the many hard-working, often inconspicuous, small entrepreneurs in various parts of Bhutan.
More than ninety Cottage and Small Industries from Thimphu, Paro and Haa Dzongkhags are participating in the festival, which will continue till end of March 2017.
The catalogue contains all details pertaining to the festival, including information about programs offered, program providers, program venue, duration and relevant contact details.
The Ministry invited all to participate in the festival and experience live activities of various product-making processes. “We hope you find inspiration from the various forms of entrepreneurship that celebrates our unique culture,” said a release from the ministry.
