80 percent of drug arrest now forwarded to BNCA

Majority of arrests related to drugs involve people abusing substances are directed to the Bhutan Narcotic Control Authority (BNCA) for counseling and rehabilitation according to their dependency.

Between 18 July to 31 July, Thimphu police apprehended 20 suspects in connection to drug abuse, illicit trafficking and possession. Of the 20 one is a female. The suspects are aged between 16 -32 years. Of this number 18 were sent to BNCA for counseling and held for further investigation.
