After the party’s struggle in the primary round of elections, the Druk Chirwang Tshogpa (DCT) president and candidates met on Thursday to tht consolidate their state-of-affairs and highlight issues related to the deregistration of the candidate if they are willing to do so, and to discuss how the candidates have utilized their funds.
“DCT will remain a political party and will be determined to bring a positive change in the country,” said DCT president Lily Wangchhuk.
The DCT president shared concerns of the last seven months being the most difficult journey involving a lot of personal scarifies and challenges, but said it was a wonderful journey in service to the nation.
The DCT candidate of Khar-Yurung constituency Sonam Penjor said he has gained much experience and knowledge by joining DCT.
He is on a job hunt in the private sector and corporations, while also considering a second shot at politics if given the opportunity again. As of now, he is not sure about deregistering from the party
The DCT’s candidate from Nganglam constituency under Pemagatshel dzongkhag Norbu Gyeltshen said, “I have gained lots of experience in politics by joining DCT, and I will participate in 2018 election once more.”
“By joining politics my career has not been affected as I am not a government servant, and I am planning to do business,” he added.
The DCT candidate of Lhamoizingkha under Dagana, Saraswati Chettri said, “Joining politics has not affected my career. In fact, I got lots of ideas and learnt the advantages and disadvantages of politics. I love challenges and I take every challenge positively.”
She added, “Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT)’s mission was to work with equity and justice, but according to me DPT has not done it. If I get a chance then I would give equity and justice in 20 dzongkhags, and I will remain in DCT.”
Tenzin Jamtsho from Panbang constituency, Zhemgan said, “I will go back to my village and start a small business, and continue to interact with the people of my constituency as I am very interested in politics, and shall prepare for the 2018 elections.”
He added that he has gained valuable experience in politics by joining DCT, and now knows how to interact with people and keep good relations.
