It is said that if one attends the annual Jana chidoe Kurim which started from March 5, the 23rd day of the first month in the Bhutanese calendar and ends today at the Pangrizampa School of Astrology (PSA), the person does not need to do any rimdos (annual ritual for ones well being) for the whole year.
It was first initiated by the PSA in 2004 with financial assistance from Lam Tshering Wangdi who is known as the architect of the statue of Buddha at Kuensel Phodrang; he continues to finance the ritual even to this day.
The speculated budget for this event is more than Nu 1.7 mn.
This year’s Jana chidoe Kurim is being presided by the former Yangbi lopen Sangay Dorji/ of the Zhung Dratshang and the students of the school itself. Thousands of devotees showed up to receive the initiations from as far as Trongsa , Wangduephodrang and Trashigang. The ritual included prayers for the well being of the kings ,the Je Khenpo ,the queen and the people of the country. It was conducted with the purpose of pleasing the deities in Buddhism.
