This political aspirant wants to begin his political voyage from an apolitical viewpoint and therefore he is vying for his candidature in the National Council (NC).
He will be contesting from Phangkhar Gewog, Zhemgang
“I believe that I will be the best to understand and represent the voice, interest and aspirations of people of Zhemgang, most importantly to fulfill their aspiration,” said the aspiring candidate, Dorji Cheten, 33.
Not so much the political out-of-the-box thought, but this is the promise of a confident 33-year-old.
He also added that he wanted to begin his political journey from NC ever since the parliamentary democracy was instituted.
If elected, he is for ‘poverty alleviation, improving living standards and income generating works’.
As a banker, he served in various capacities- Credit Officer, Strategy Officer, Relationship Manager and as Branch Manager at Bhutan National Bank Limited (BNBL), Gelephu.
Educationally, he has achieved Masters in International Economics & Finance, from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand in 2008. And he finished his undergraduate from Sherubtse College in 2002 with a Bachelors of commerce (BCom).
Dorji Cheten says that there are other candidates vying for the NC seat from Zhemgang and therefore “People of Zhemgang has more choices now”.
