An online web-based promotional campaign, initiated by the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB), will allow everyone across the globe to define happiness through photographs and taglines.
Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay launched the Bhutan Photo Campaign website at the TCB’s conference hall on July 30. The website received its first photograph with the tagline ‘Happiness is Girl Power’. “It is to encourage the women to take part in creative activity and to give them an equal opportunity,” Lyonchhen said
A TCB spokesperson said, “Through this photo campaign, Tourism Council of Bhutan hopes to promote and strengthen the Brand Bhutan.” He added that such a platform would allow the tourism industry of Bhutan to promote Brand Bhutan’s tagline ‘Happiness is a Place’.
Participants, from all walks of life, can register on the campaign website happinessisaplace.com by creating a profile with contact details, including name, email or website through submitted photographs.
Any individual or organization can promote themselves or their companies through the campaign’s website. They can directly share their photographs on social media through the campaign website. The photographs must be submitted with taglines under the categories, In Bhutan and Outside Bhutan.
The photos entries will be reviewed twice, on November 11 and December 17, and various attractive prizes are on offer on those days, like prizes for the five best creative taglines, for the photos with the most likes, photos that are shared the most and commented on. Similarly, prizes will be awarded to the photos with the second highest likes or shares.
The prizes will be awarded based on assessment made on the photo entries received on the website during its year-long campaign. TCB aims to use the entries for promotional purpose that is geared towards fulfilling the vision of ‘Visit Bhutan 2015’.
As of now, Tourism Council of Bhutan has 27 sponsors, which comprise of tour operators, hoteliers and two airlines companies. The sponsors are categorized as gold and silver partners, depending on their contribution.
Bhutan Photo Campaign is dedicated to His Majesty the Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, who coined the philosophy of Gross National Happiness, and introduced it to the world.
