The formulation of the 12th Five Year Plan for the department of Forest and Park Services was the main agenda of the annual forestry conference held in the capital this week.
The six-day conference, which concluded on Tuesday, also discussed the drying of water sources, introducing environmental safeguards and timber distribution modality for 2017.
The conference also reviewed and sought agreement on resolutions of the previous annual forestry conferences and also finalized project monitoring and reporting protocol.
Representatives of Druk Holding and Investment also presented the concept on forestry business master plan for conservation at the conference.
On the second day Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay addressed the conference and commended the hard work and dedication of foresters for their unfailing service to the department and the nation and encouraged them to continue with the same spirit.
Chief Forestry Officers from the Field Divisions and Parks along with other Specialists and officials from Functional Divisions attended the conference themed “Setting realistic targets for the 12th Five Year Plan”.
Agriculture minister Yeshey Dorji chaired the first two days of the conference coordinated by Forest Protection and Enforcement Division.
The Tiger IDs from the Nation-wide Tiger Survey 2015 was also handed to respective divisions and parks. The conference concluded with the formal adoption of the resolutions.
