Arrest of drug buyer leads to arrest of a drug ‘shopkeeper’

Thimphu police arrested a 34-year-old man from Drujeygang, Dagana on April 2 from Jungshina, Thimphu at around 22:30 hrs.

Based upon the information given by an informer, police have arrested the suspect with possession of 32 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon (SP) and 2.28 grms of Marijuana. He has hidden the drugs inside a pocket of his pants.

The suspect also tested positive for Marijuana and he is currently under detention.

Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to have purchased the drugs from a person who owns a mobile shop near the Clock Tower Square, Thimphu.

Based on the information by the suspect, the police have arrested a 27-year-old man from Samtse on April 5 at around 19:00 hrs from the Clock Tower Square.

Police team also conducted a search operation in his shop, whereby the police have recovered 307 capsules of SP hidden inside a black plastic bag hidden under a table.

As of now, they have arrested 21 people in connection to drug possession, out of which 18 are males while three are females.

They are under city police custody and the case is still under investigation.
