Dagana elected Birendra Chimoria from Tshendagang during the National Council elections. Competing against an incumbent member and 2 other candidates, Birendra Chimoria won by a landslide with 7,143 votes.
Birendra, 42 ran with the slogan, ‘together we shall progress for national harmony’, and he has pledged to shoulder extra responsibilities of safeguarding the national security and sovereignty, recommend policies for agriculture product enhancement, protection, and compensation and propose a policy to support domestic tourism and open neighbouring dzongkhags along the Indian border as tourist destinations.
He wants to facilitate the common interest of the country and the people along with the Members of Parliament of National Assembly during any joint sitting.
With almost 2 decades of work experience, he also has a double masters, a masters in Sports Administration from Asian Football Confederation, from Malaysia, and a masters in Health and Education from Osmania University, India. He was a physical education teacher and was working in the Bhutan Football Federation before joining the NC race.
