Body of a missing woman recovered from Dodena after 28 days

Thimphu police recovered the body of a 25-year-old woman on 14 August. The deceased went missing while swimming in the river in Doedena, Thimphu on 18 July.

The deceased along with her two friends (a 29-year-old man and 19-year-old girl) went for sightseeing at Dodena park, and after that they went to the river for a swim.

It was reported that the deceased knew how to swim, however, she was swept away by a sudden high water current. Although her friends tried to save her, however, the current was too strong and the deceased disappeared within no time.

The body of the deceased was spotted by a man working around Dodena and was reported to the police. The body of the deceased was then identified and handed over to the complainant (friend of the deceased) in the presence of a witness on the same day.
