Minister of Information and Communications, DN Dhungyel, yesterday awarded the certificates to 27 participants from IM0’s who attended the media management and social media management training.
With support from the Ministry of Information and Communications, the training was conducted by the Bhutan Media and Communications Institute from 15-19 February for media management and for social media from February 29 till March 4.
Along with the awarding of certificates, Lyonpo also handed over media equipment-Roland MP3 Recorder to each private media firms. Each equipment cost about Nu 30,000 to Nu 40,000.
The media management training was focused on media landscape, news judgment, right to information, introduction to public relations, strategic media relations, writing effective press releases, press conference management, such as planning, preparation, execution and facilitation.
The social media training stressed much on creating media presence, social media for specific purposes, strategizing, social media and public communication.
In addition, the participants were inculcated on how to manage social media, why-need of social media, who is responsible, what should be done on social media, for whom-targeting audiences, where, which tools can be used, the ways and means of measuring the impact.
Lyonpo DN Dhungyel said, “It’s evident that both media training is important, for it’s a strong tool for disseminating information to the people.”
Different agencies within Bhutan and guest speakers from India took part in the training.
