Thimphu police arrested two men for carrying contraband substances in a Bolero pick-up. They had attempted to mix the contraband with vegetables on 10th February.
The Bolero was travelling towards Wangdue carrying vegetable. There were two passengers including the driver and the vegetable vendor.
Officers were travelling to Hongtsho with different business whereby they saw driver throwing a cigarette butt from the car. With concern over forest fire, they went to give a briefing to the driver but they found, the driver carrying Spaxmo-Proxyvon (SP).
Suspicious, the police did a thorough checking of the Bolero and found tobacco inside, mixed with the vegetables. They were also carrying 384 capsules of SP, 2400 sticks of Navy cut, 68,000 pieces of Beri, 13,900 packets of nevla chewing tobacco, 3,000 packets of Baba and 2,760 packets of talab tobacco.
Upon interrogation, police said that, they confess to the crime saying that all the tobacco items belong to the vegetable vendor while the SP belongs to the driver. Both the driver and vendor are from Tsirang.The driver is 29 years old and the vendor is 21 years old.
The Bolero is under the custody of the Thimphu police and both the suspects have been detained for the further investigation.
