Citizenship to 137 individuals

Over 9,000 individuals granted citizenship till date

His Majesty The King granted Citizenship Kidu to 137 individuals on 29th June, 2017. The recipients took an Oath of Allegiance to the Tsa-Wa-Sum, at the Kuenrey of the Tashichhodzong.

Recipients of the Kidu, who live across the country, and are from all walks of life, made their appeals through the various channels available to them, including direct appeals to His Majesty, and through the Kidu Support Services of the Office of the Gyalpoi Zimpon.

As with all previous recipients, His Majesty personally met the beneficiaries. His Majesty reminded the recipients of their overarching duties to the nation as Bhutanese citizens.

In this ongoing process of granting Kidu, His Majesty The King has granted citizenship to over nine thousand individuals till date.

The ceremony to confer citizenship to the individuals, was attended by the Prime Minister and Home Minister, as well as officials from the Judiciary and the Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs.
