The first semi-finals of the inter-school basket ball tournament in Thimphu was played between the Yangchenphug girls’ team against Kelki. The match played in four quarters saw many fouls and tough battle between the teams.
It was unsure who would win until the last quarter of the game when Kelki could break through Yangchenphug and seal a place for finals with scores ending 37-47.
Again, in the boys first semi-finals, Yangchephug played against Rinchen, the final score sounding 36-40. Both teams could not make it to the finals.
Pelkhil girls earned an easy victory over Kelki as expected. Pelkhil made it up to fourteen and a half baskets to enter the finals . Lungtenzampa, meanwhile, could only make ten and half baskets.
In the boys’ match again, Pelkhil faced Mothithang, leaving Mothithang way back. Pelkhil then had it out with Rinchen Higher Secondary School in the finals, the final scores reading 47-36, Pelkhil emerging winners.
The finals will be played tomorrow in Nazhoen Pelri hall. The tournament is organized by Lungtenzampa Middle Secondary School and funded by Thimphu Thromde. The winners and the runners-up will be awarded individual medals and trophies.
