Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) President, Pema Gyamtsho, won from Chhoekhor-Tang constituency after securing a total of 3,251 votes (1,073 PB + 2,178 EVM), while DNT’s Dawa secured a total of 1,536 votes (410 PB + 1126 EVM).

Pema Gyamtsho said that it was the choice of the people and it needs to be respected.

“The people of Bumthang were thoroughly convinced that the prime ministerial candidate is from Bumthang and they were easily swayed. As it turns out, people of Bumthang wanted to elect a prime ministerial candidate instead of an ordinary representative,” said Dawa.

Chhumig-Ura Demkhong
