Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) campaign for the general round started from the south where the party president met the people of Dagana, Tsirang, Sarpang and then moved to Wangdue Phodrang in the last one week.
Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT) and DPT started their campaigns from the regions where the parties did not have a strong base of supporters.
“The very reason to start the campaign from the south is because we did very badly in the primary round where we lost from almost all the constituency in the south,” a DPT candidate said adding that the other reason is to avoid a clash since DNT started its campaign from the east.
The DPT campaign this week started from Gasa where the DPT met with the people of Khatoed, Gasa Throm, Koina and Laya.
The DPT President, Pema Gyamtso, promised the people of Laya that DPT will work to frame a regulation related to harvesting cordyceps so that farmers reap the benefit of the precious commodity.
“We pledge to provide Gewog Development Grant up to Nu 7 million to every gewog,” and further added, “This would be solely authorized for the developmental works in gewog in constructing farm road, irrigation channel”.
DPT added, “Development in whatever sense at grassroots level and solving any problem at individual is very important and this fulfills the prospect of GNH.”
After meeting with the people of the dzongkhags, the campaign moved to Samtse. A meeting was held with the public and business community of Gomtu, Samtse, Chengmari, Ugyentse, Yoeseltse and Sangacholing on the same day.
The DPT President also managed to cover Tashicholing, Namgeycholing and Pemacholing at Tashicholinggewog center on the same day.
A meeting with the public and party supporters and coordinators was conducted in the evening.
DPT President pledged to execute at least three hydropower projects to put the country’s economic back on track.
“We will do everything, as mentioned in our manifesto, to generate more revenues so that in few years, we can provide free WiFi, allowances to women and children, vehicle quotas and more to our peoples hope,” Pema Gyamtsho said.
The DPT campaign will move to meeting with the public of Norjegang and Tendu in Samtse in the morning and then head off to Thimphu via Phuntsholing on 6 October.
On 7 October, DPT heads towards Bumthang where the President plans to meet with the people of Samtengang and Nyisho and Sephu Gewogs in Wangduephodrang en-route. The meeting en-route will also be done with the people of Nubi and Tangsibi gewogs in Trongsa.
In the evening, the meeting will be held with the public and business community of Chummig before a halt at Chamkhar.
In Bumthang, the team will meet with the people of Ura, Tang, Chamkhar, Jalekhar, Gongkhar and Choekhor Toed after which the DPT President will prepare for the debate.
After the debate, the campaign journey is scheduled for Lhuentse where DPT President shall meet with the people of Tsenkhar, gangzur, Dungkhar, Menji and head towards Mongar after the campaign in Lhuentse.
After meeting with the public of gewogs in Monger, the campaign journey is scheduled towards Trashigang where President will firstly meet the coordinators and supporters. The campaign in Trashigang will begin from Rangjung and then continue with meeting with the people of Radhi, Phongmey and Khaling.
The campaign will also be done among other gewogs in Trashigang with the public of Bartsham, Bidung, Rangjung Throm and Shongphu gewogs and the public of Wamrong Throm.
The final day for the campaign is scheduled for a meeting with the people of Kangpara, Thrimshing and Kanglung. The journey would be made back via Mongar.
