Ear Surgery camp in Bumthang

The 7th voluntary ear surgery camp by the team from Japan and JDWNRH will be carried out in Bumthang in Wangduecholing hospital from 26th August till 3rd of September.

Drawing inspiration from His Majesty the King’s visit to Japan in 2011 to pay respect to the tsunami victims, Dr. Yuasa an ENT specialist from Japan organized a mission on 2nd June 2012 where he informally visited Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH) to find out the needs of the ENT department.

After finding out that many patients suffered from chronic Otitis and needed extensive surgery, the mission comprising a small f team from Japan and JDWNRH started the first round of surgery in 2013. The amount of 460,000 Yen was contributed for this initiative.

The first mission was conducted on 27th April till 6th May 2013 at JDWNRH by a team of three doctors and a head nurse from Japan operating 27 cases followed by total of 105 cases of operation in JDWNRH for the total 5 missions which comprised of more number of doctors from Japan and Specialist and technical assistant from JDWNRH.

The first mission for the second round was carried out in Phuentsholing General Hospital led by Dr. Yuasa and two ear surgeons with another two nurses from Japan operating 28 patients.
