Choining Dorji
Choining Dorji, 47, holds a B.A, LL.B (Hons) from National Law School of India University, LL.M from California Western School of Law. He also holds a postgraduate diploma in national law from RIM, Semtokha and postgraduate certificate in corruption studies from University of Hong Kong.
He has worked with High Court, Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC), Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and two DHI companies (DHI-INFRA and CDCL) in a 19-year period.
He said that, he is a lawyer and a certified drafter of laws with a vast real life experience in drafting a number of laws. “Good laws are the basis of equality and justice, which depend on the competency of the National Council’s members”, he added.
He also said that, “I will advocate for or support any legislative proposal benefiting women, businesses, and elderly people or those with regard to employment”.
Moreover, “I have several years of working experience both in the civil service and corporate sector to fulfill the review function of the National Council”, he said. Besides, he said that, he will work with the concerned NA members for the socio-economic development of his Dzongkhag and provide assistance in overcoming his Dzongkhag’s concerns.
Sangay Wangchuk
Sangay Wangchuk, 56, holds a M.Sc in information technology, Diploma in Computing Science and BSc in Science. He has worked for 20 years as a civil servant in the field of IT policies and strategies and has 10 years of work experience in an international organization.
He pledged to promote peace and harmony in the community and to work towards rural revitalization. “I also pledge to liaise between the people and the government”, he added.
He also said that, he would ensure that the pledges made by the political parties are delivered on time.
Jamtsho
Jamtsho, 53, holds a B.A in Economics and he has worked as a branch manager in BoBL. He said that, “My manifesto is to enact the laws and amend the laws for the smooth functioning of our country and serve our country on the matters of security and sovereignty.
He also said that, he would encourage delivery of bus service to gewogs to help the lower income group of people, set plans and programs to curb youth unemployment problems and amend laws to benefit the people.
Sherig Dentshog
Sherig Dentshog, 35, holds a Bachelor of Political Science and Sociology degree and he has worked as field research and as a research associate in his past years.
He pledges to review the policies and create awareness on the laws. He also said that, “I will also review and make new policies for agricultural farming to benefit people as a whole and also work hard along with the government to tackle unemployment issues in the country”.
He also said that, he is the right person to act as a bridge between the government and the people of Pemagatshel and he will also work beyond his manifesto.
Sonam Dhendup
Sonam Dhendup, 36, holds a B.A LLB and has worked in judiciary and Anti Corruption Commission. He also has served as a private lawyer. He said that, he has studied law and to make a good laws, one must have relevant educational background since making law itself is a professional service and very technical in nature.
“I have the capacity to derive maximum benefit as a NC member as I have all these requisite qualification”, he added. He further said that, as a practicing lawyer, he has encountered many shortcomings in existing laws which warrants immediate amendment.
In addition, for people to help justice, he said that there is also need to come up with important new legislation, in particular the Right to Jabmi Act. He said to ensure that democracy is government of people, he will always meet people to consult and seek their opinion regarding any issues.
“With all this, people should assess key area of my expertise and vote for me”, he said.
