Former MoAF Program Director takes over in Zhemgang

Zhemgang dzongkhag elected former Program Director with Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF) Pema Drakpa from Bardo gewog over Incumbent NC Pema Lhamo scoring total votes of 2,413 votes.

Pema Drakpa scored 1,660 yes votes through Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and 753 through Postal Ballot.

The Incumbent NC member Pema Lhamo from Nangkhor gewog scored a total of 909 votes where 571 votes were scored through EVM and 338 through the Postal Ballots.

Next to Pema Drakpa is Yeshi Tshomo from Ngangla gewog who managed to score total votes of 1,219. She scored majority of her votes through EVM with 1,016 votes and 203 through postal ballots. Dorji Kadin the other contender scored total votes of 1,209.

The 43-year old NC-elect worked with MoAF as a Program Director and served in government service for 14 years. He has a BSc from Philippines and a Masters in Food Technology from Belgium.

He pledged to take responsibility and accountability for strengthening the Parliamentary Democracy by making the Parliament of Bhutan respectable and trustworthy and make sure that their voices is heard in the Parliament while executing the two core functions of National Council, Legislative and House of Review.

Zhemgang Dzongkhag has more than 16, 000 eligible voters.
