A second session of Moenlam Chenmo in Samtse Dzongkhag

More than 4000 people gathered in samtse gewog to attend Moenlam Chenmo, which started on 22 October.

The gewog’s Gup Wangchuk Lepcha said the annual ceremony is conducted by the Je Khenpo Trulku Jigme Choedra. The ritual will continue for a week.

People who gathered for the ceremony said that they came to receive blessings from His Holiness and purify themselves.  For the youth attending the ceremony, it was a three way for gathering, socializing and blessing.

The crowd of devotees will be provided with food and drinks. “We could provide them with free breakfast and lunch as Moenlam Chenmo committee had the budget and there were many donors for it,” said the Gup.

Harvest time is busy time but development activities continue alongside

Its harvest season once again and works will last for a month. It’s the busiest days for the people in the gewog.

Be that as it may, development activities in the gewog are also underway targeted to complete by the end of this year.

Gup Pelden Dorji said the on-going activities in the gewog include three schemes of Rural Water Supply Scheme (RWSS), constructions of toilets for 10 Lhakhangs and construction of a wall between the gewog office and Community Center.

RWSS works are on in Jamung, Thimrong and Thongrang village. Construction of individual toilets is underway in 10 Lhakhangs and as of now three toilets are ready.

The works have started on the 40 meters wide and 3.5 meters high wall between the Gewog office and Community Centre.

The budget allocated for these development works are funded by the Royal Government of Bhutan for the year 2012-2013.

Gup Pelden Dorji said the total budget estimated for these developmental works is about Nu 1.1mn.

Yangneer left with one RWSS for this financial year

Development works in Yangneer gewog are almost complete for the financial year except for one scheme of Rural Water Supply Scheme (RWSS).

The Gewog Administration Officer (GAO) said they are still waiting for supply order for maintenance of one scheme of RWSS in Rashi gonpa under Daliphangma chiwog which is nine kilometers away from gewog center. The village has 30 households.

The cost estimate for the RWSS is almost Nu 3mn.

Other development works which have been completed include construction of two farm roads; a 7.8 km farm road from Gongthung to Lephu and a 7km farm road from Gongthung to Shokang.

The GAO says the gewog now has 95% of water coverage after the completion of six schemes of RWSS.

Two community forests have been completed in Lephu and Changzoe Darjeeling chiwog and piggery development in Daliphangma and Shokang chiwog.

For agriculture purpose, nine storage facilities have been constructed at Gongthung.

However GAO says along with the maintenance of one scheme of RWSS, farm road of Shokang has to undergo maintenance works after damages by the monsoon rain.
