The phase I construction of the 24-km highway from Phuntshothang to Samrang gewog is underway since last October. The contract for it was tendered out for three years. In phase II, the highway will extend till Daifam but the ground works are still on. However, despite these good tidings, wildlife conflict in the area is a major issue with jumbos destroying crops on a regular bsisis. Human-wildlife conflict happens in Samrang gewog most of the time.
