Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen graced the inauguration ceremony of the National Veterinary Hospital in Motithang, Thimphu on 5th February 2018.
The new hospital is expected to meet the increasing demand for modern animal care and treatment requirements for pets and domestic animals. The Prime Minister, senior government officials, and the Indian Ambassador to Bhutan also attended the inaugural ceremony.
The ground-breaking ceremony for the new hospital which was held in July 2015, was also graced by Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen.
The hospital replaces the old Veterinary Hospital in Chubachu, which was increasingly struggling to cope with the growing need for animal health and treatment services. According to the Agriculture and Forest Minister, it received a total of 5,649 new and 12,361 follow-up cases in 2017 alone.
The inauguration commemorated the Golden Jubilee of formal diplomatic relations between Bhutan and India. The construction of the hospital was funded by the Government of India.
