Coinciding with Her Majesty T he Gyaltsuen’s Birth Anniversary, Her Majesty graced the celebration of the World Environment Day in Thimphu. At the celebrations, Her Majesty launched the Curriculum on Air Conditioning & Refrigeration for Vocational Training Institutes, and Strategy on Integrated Solid Waste Management.
Her Majesty also awarded prizes and certificates to the winners of the School Ozone competition.
As a tribute to Her Majesty’s patronage of the environment sector in Bhutan, the National Environment Commission observes June 4th as the World Environment Day in Bhutan, coinciding with Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen’s Birth Anniversary,
The Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, senior government officials and representatives from various international organizations were also present.
Later in the afternoon, the Prime Minister, Speaker of National Assembly, Chairman of the National Council, heads of the Armed Forces, and other senior government officials gathered at the Lingkana Palace to offer birthday wishes to Her Majesty.
Taxi Drivers Association, students from Changangkha Middle Secondary School and Lungtenzampa Middle Secondary School, staff of National Housing Development Corporation, staff of Royal Society for Protection of Nature, and representatives of DeSuung were also at the Palace to offer their wishes.
Six Royal Bhutan Police and one Royal Bhutan Army personnel who have refused bribery in their line of duty were specially invited to the Palace, and were granted Soelraby Their Majesties.
