His Majesty appoints Chief of Police and confers rank of Colonel to others

His Majesty The King granted Dhar to appoint Colonel Chimi Dorji as the Chief of Police on 19th November. Colonel Chimi Dorji has been serving as the Deputy Chief of Police of the Royal Bhutan Police. The post of the Chief of Police has been vacant since the superannuation of the former Chief of Police, Brigadier Kipchu Namgyal, recently.

His Majesty The King appoints the Chief of Police upon the recommendation of the Prime Minister, who receives a list of names of officers based on seniority, qualification and capability, submitted by the Police Service Board.

His Majesty also promoted 12 Lieutenant Colonels of the RBA, RBP, and RBG to the rank of Colonels.
