His Majesty in the South

His Majesty The King, accompanied by Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen, graced the site of the Shivalaya Mandir in Samtse on 31 March 2014.

The Shivalaya Mandir is being rebuilt upon the Command of His Majesty The King as a gift from His Majesty to the people of Samtse to commemorate the Royal Wedding.

Their Majesties offered prayers and blessed the Vaastu Kalash (ceremonial vase) which will be installed in the existing temple, around which the new structure will be built.

The Mandir will be completed next year, as part of the celebrations to mark the 60th Birth Anniversary of His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.

On the 29th, His Majesty granted audiences to the participants of the Senior Executive Leadership Programme at the Royal Institute for Governance and Strategic Studies and the students and teachers of Phuentsholing Middle Secondary School in Phuentsholing.

In Samtse, His Majesty granted audiences to the teaching students and lecturers of the Samtse College of Education yesterday, and the students and teachers of Samtse Higher Secondary School earlier today.

His Majesty The King is accompanied by Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen on a tour of the southern Dzongkhags.

Earlier His Majesty The King on 30th March granted audiences to the teaching students and lecturers of the Samtse College of Education. His Majesty told the students that the most important thing they could teach their future students was the skill to pursue lifelong learning. His Majesty added that the teachers must be good role models for their students and inspire the thousands of young people who will pass through their classrooms to become strong and capable future citizens of the country.
