11 June 2018: The onset of monsoon, when paddy seedlings must be transplanted, is the most important time of the year for Bhutanese farmers. The work is strenuous in the mountainous terrain, but it is reflective of the strong culture of interdependence in the rural community. Every helping hand is useful, so villagers pool labour to help accomplish the task, joining in to help wherever there is work to be done. In this photograph, His Majesty The King and officials join the farmers working in their paddy fields in Changkha, Gasetsho Gom Gewog, Wangdue. Their Majesties are on a tour of Wangduephodrang Dzongkhag.
