On the auspicious occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Guru Rinpoche (Trelda Tsechu), on 30 June 2020 His Royal Highness the Second Gyalsey to His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen has been named Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck.
His Royal Highness will be referred to as Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck.
His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Gyaltsuen graced the Trelda Tsechu prayer ceremony at Thimphu Tashichodzong, and offered prayers along with Their Royal Highnesses Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel and Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck.
The Trelda Tsechu prayers are performed annually for the benefit of all sentient beings.
Led by the Prime Minister, representatives of the Dratshang, Government and Armed Forces offered Mendrel Ku Sung Thukten to His Royal Highness the Gyalsey on behalf of the people of Bhutan.
It is a highly auspicious name for The Second Royal Child as His Royal Highness Gyalsey Ugyen Wangchuck on Ugyen Guru Rinpoche’s Birth Anniversary.
The name and the event is linked firstly to Guru Rinpoche himself.
Another important fact is that Ugyen Wangchuck is the name of His Majesty The First King of Bhutan, Gongsar Ugyen Wangchuck.
This is also after the first Royal Child HRH Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck has the same name as Desi Jigme Namgyel who is the father of His Majesty The First King.
HRH Gyalsey Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck was also named on an auspicious occasion of Zhabdrung Kuchoe coinciding with the 400th Anniversary of Zhabdrung’s arrival to Bhutan on 16th April 2016.
