Lyonchhen Dr Lotay Tshering said that patrolling teams do make house visits for the purpose of information dissemination and creating awareness. Lyonchhen added otherwise there is no point in visiting the private houses without any reason.
“Those who are going for the patrolling are the RBP and they do have a committee and they have their own regulation. And we also have DeSuups who have been selected from a large number of groups and they have been trained under different category. We have DeSuup training under health and COVID-19 too apart from the general training. To create awareness and give advices and do follow up. If a few of them are seen going around it is must and they have to do,” Lyonchhen said.
Lyonchhen said to inform the government if without any reason the patrol teams are visiting and knocking on the doors of the private homes. There were concerns from the people on privacy matters.
“However, a few who are not aware or do not know about the rules must be doing such a thing. There is no rule where it is a must to do such things. If it has to be done, they have to give the details on why and where they are visiting the places. Otherwise, I don’t see a point,” Lyonchhen said, adding that the reason that there is no local transmission of the disease must be credited to them.
