The Bhutanese Leading the way.
For the first time, the Bhutan National Legal Institute will launch a new Law magazine and Legal Pamphlet at the Terma Linca on 21 February, 2013 coinciding with the birth Anniversary of His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
The event would be launched by Her Royal Highness Ashi Sonam Dechen Wangchuck.
The program is funded by United Nations Development Fund, Swiss Agency for Development & Cooperation and the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC).
The legal officer of the Bhutan National Institute, Nima Dorji said “This is the first time ever that our country is launching a law magazine and legal pamphlets so that legal officials and our public to know more about the country’s laws”.
The public would be informed about the prevalent rights and responsibilities of the country’s laws through the publication and the pamphlets
“They will be aware of the peace we have in our country because of the laws we have,” said the legal officer.
According to him the launch is divided into two sections. One launch is for the law magazine titled as the Bhutan Law Review, which has different articles written by some judges and lawyers in Bhutan.
The second section is launching Legal Pamphlets which are categorized into many laws such as constitutional laws, marriage certificate procedures, pre-trial procedures, mediation procedures with its advantages and disadvantages in the country and drafting of wills.
The main objectives for the launch of this law magazine and the legal pamphlet is for writing skills development , creating awareness on law and the legal system and for those who are interested to know much more about the country’s laws and its benefits.
The law magazines will be circulated directly after the launch in 24 law schools with permission from the Ministry of Education.
