This year more than twelve sponsors from the 20 dzongkhags will sponsor a great moenlam chenmo which will be held in Phuentsholing in the Zangdopelri lhakhang on 27 December, tomorrow.
The religious ceremony is mainly based on zhendrup.
The moenlam chenmo will take place for 13 days where all the monks from different monastries are expected to attend the moenlam chenmo for the well being of the people and animals on earth. The ceremony will be graced by his emminence Lam Tshewang who is a Khenpo from Mysore monastery.
Along with the Khenpos there are seven lamas from the Mysore monastery who will preside over the prayers for the public and the sponsors expect hundreds of devotees to attend the ritual.
The religious ceremony will start from morning 7 am and go on till 5pm where lunch will be provided by the sponsors.
Lam Neten Dorji, a monk from Bodh Gaya said, “The prayers which we will preside over for the devotees for more than a week will be very important for the public and the sponsors have really proved to be kind hearted and they donated the money to pitch a big tent for the devotees”.
The care taker (koenyner) of the lhakhang said, “This is such a good thing that the sponsors are doing for the devotees as some people could not go to Punakha Wang and attend the religious ritual but now the devotees can attend here in Zangdopelri and pray”.
“Every year it is good to see sponsors coming up and contributing money for the good deeds,” he said.
Talking to some of the devotees Passang Dorji, 56 years old said “though I could not visit Punakha Wang but now at least I am happy that there is a Mani lung which will be presided over by the great lamas from the great monasteries”.

Even religious ceremony should be held in economic and patriotic ways…holding such things at boarder makes money goes out more than usual..why can’t we hold somewhere in central..not too north or south..
