Mobile snatching on the rise

Mobile snatching is a new crime that is surfacing in Thimphu, say the city’s police.

On 22 March police arrested three teenagers from Changjalu, in connection with phone snatching phone from a student girl who was walking back home after her tuition. The incident took place near the Lungtenphu Helipad.

With the help of description given by the victim, police managed to get hold of the three youths. Police recovered the sim, thrown away 200 meters away from the crime scene. Police said that, as of now, they have registered few cases with regard to mobile snatching and that such crime is increasing.

All suspects are school dropouts and are detained for further investigation.
