MoF dismisses tax rumors and announces National Inventory

Finance Minister Lyonpo Namgay Dorji dismissed widespread rumors that there would be an impending vehicle tax in the upcoming budget. He said that the source of the rumors was an old news article of 2014 when a vehicle tax increase had actually happened.

Meanwhile the minister announced that the Ministry of Finance is carrying out a National Inventory of government properties to rationalize optimum usage of government properties to safeguard the resources of the government.

This would also help in on rationalizing the budget on construction proposals for the forthcoming financial year. He said that this is being initiated to curb unnecessary constructions which would be a burden for the future generations of the country.
