Lyonpo Dorji Tshering, 39, is the new Works and Human Settlement (MoHWS) Minister. He is from Radhi-Sakteng, Trashigang. He holds a Masters in Civil Engineering from Australia. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from India.
Focused on the pledge of narrowing the gap, Lyonpo Dorji Tshering said he plans to focus on areas that affect the gap. “There are many factors, but one definitely is due to poorinfrastructure. Therefore,we will provide equal infrastructures without differentiating between poor and rich.”
He said he has no separate vision for the ministry. However, he plans towork hard to achieve the vision of the ministry. “I will not be different from the past ministers in any form,” he added.
He said that the great team in the ministry is his asset. “I will be enjoying one of the best teams, and therefore, there is no way I will have to worry from where I should start in the ministry.”
Lyonpo said he will discuss and set the priorities for the ministry as per the government’s mandate and with the help of experts in the ministry.
He has worked as an executive engineer with the Department of Roads (DOR), MoWHS for four years and he also has worked as a deputy executive engineer in Trashigang regional office, DoR for seven years.
