Incoming tourists can now visit the Bhutan National Bank (BNB) counter at the Paro International Arrival Terminal to download the MyPay Wallet App available on both Android and IOS operating systems. The Bhutanese SIM cards can be bought at the TashiCell or Bhutan Telecom counters located at the exit gate of the arrival terminal to activate MyPay Wallet App.
Tourists can use MyPay Wallet, to make local payment conveniently, as it is a safe and secure tool to enable broader financial inclusion.
MyPay Wallet can also be used as credit and debit cards, loyalty cards, coupons, etc. With the stored value account, one can add money from BNB account to the wallet or from international cards to the wallet. One can also send money, request money, split bills, make payments through QR, and also recharge your phone data and talk time.
Users will not require a bank account to register and use the MyPay Wallet, as only a local SIM card is required to activate the App.
MyPay Wallet will be providing financial services to the unbanked population. It will mainly target minors and tourists visiting the country, which will promote financial inclusion program within the country. One can go cashless without carrying any physical wallet with the App.
One can also add fund from international cards, like Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Diners Club, AMEX, JCB and Union Pay, and it will be done so through Stripe, which is known for its high security controls and efficiency, as it is one of the most globally recognized brands in the industry.
The App features high security features like OTP, MPIN, TPIN and Biometric Authentication. MyPay Wallet will not rely on core banking system. It also features transfer capabilities from wallet to wallet, wallet to account, account to wallet and card to wallet.
