Newcomer takes over in Chukha

Pema Tenzin was elected as the National Council (NC) representative for Chukha dzongkhag after he secured 7,421 votes through as total of 6,995 Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) votes and 426 postal ballot (PB) votes.

The incumbent NC member Tshewang Lhamu received in total 3,931 votes (EVM-3,680- PB- 251).

Pema Tenzin said “Basically I educated people about the role of democracy and how to create a vibrant democracy in the country, about how the NC can serve as a bridge between the government and people. More than that, I thought I was giving a choice to the people.”
