More graduates are pouring in into the job market each year whiles vacancies in the civil service are decreasing every year.
According to the Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC), a total of 3567 graduates have registered for the RCSE preliminary examination slated for August 11 this year. The number of graduates has increased by 944 compared to the previous year.
This year, the total number of vacancies announced by RCSE is 538, which is a decline by 59 seats in comparison to last year. The total number of vacancies in General category is 257, 274 in the Technical category and 7 for Dzongkhag category.
Further, the general category is divided into Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA), Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). The total number of seats for PGDPA and PGDFM counts to 36 seats and 202 seats for the PGDE.
The PGDE category is divided according to the subject like Science, Arts, IT Education and Business Studies. For Science there are 85 seats, For Arts there are 70 seats, 10 seats for IT Education and 30 seats for Business Studies. For the Dzongkha graduates there are only 7 seats and another 32 Dzongkha graduates and Light Drukyul contract teacher being recruited by the Ministry of Education for the PGDE course.
The total number of vaccines announced in the Technical category is 274 which are divided into two sub categories that are Post Graduate Diploma in National Law (PGDNL) and others. The total number of seats allocated for PGDNL is 15 and 249 for others. 10 seats are being allocated for teaching in the Technical category.
According to RCSC, unlike in the past, there will be no face to face briefing to the graduates and instead all the graduates are requested to see the RCSC website for information regarding the examination centre and material required for PE.
The total number of graduates who registered for PE in 2012 was 2623 with 597 vacancies announced by the commission last year.
