One dies of injury from gas explosion

A 36-year-old non-Bhutanese from Daragoan, Jaigoan, who suffered injuries from a welding gas cylinder explosion in Wangdi Engineering workshop, Phuentsholing, died after reaching Phuentsholing hospital on 27 December at around 1:30 PM.

The incident took place at around 11:30 am. As per the statement by eyewitnesses the deceased was coming out from a canteen and was walking towards the workshop gate when the cylinder exploded.  They found the deceased lying on the ground with blood all over his body.

Police said that, during the time of incident, there were few people working inside the workshop, however, they were unhurt as they were far from the explosion.

The deceased was evacuated to hospital at around 11:40 am with excessive bleeding. As per the medical report, the deceased sustained an approximately 10 cm large split laceration over left mid thigh with deep muscle cut onto the bone, split laceration over left forearm, split laceration over left upper chest, crush injury of thumb and index finger and multiple loner laceration with active bleed.

The deceased and his wife runs the workshop canteen and the explosion was purely an accident.

The deceased is survived with two children and a wife.
