The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President spoke to a crowd of more than 800 people in a packed Nazhoen Pelri hall at the YDF complex in Thimphu on Sunday.
The issue that generated the most talk in the gathering was that of the allegations made by the former ruling party, Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) of PDP of forming a coalition with Druk Nyamrup Tshogpa (DNT). This was clarified by the PDP President Tshering Tobgay.
“If they (DPT) want to talk, then we can have debates on BBS so everyone can watch, hear and know the truth,” Tshering Tobgay said.
“We welcome such criticisms since it indicates how scared the other party is, while at the same time, it provides PDP an opportunity to clarify.” He said DPT’s allegations of PDP and DNT having formed a coalition is not true.
“It was the decision of the individual candidates to pick PDP and deny DPT,” he added.
Tshering Tobgay said we need to change the way the government functions and it was with this same vision that all new political parties were formed and registered.
He added the people supporting the new parties should know PDP shares the same visions as the new parties, and they should think carefully while voting in the general election.
The PDP President blamed the former government for replacing their candidate during the last hours for north Thimphu constituency and the south Thimphu candidate for neglecting his constituency.
Tshering Tobgay also touched on the party motto, Wangtse Chhirpel.
He said Wangtse Chhirpel was by all means achievable, and if DPT deemed the pledges to be unrealistic, he would prove them wrong.
Empowering the local government, private sector, and the government agencies are the main priorities of the PDP.
The PDP President also met with taxi drivers, tour operators and guides, and the people from the sports community. He assured them that PDP will look into their affairs.
The President and his team walked along Norzin Lam area campaigning door-to-door.

Dear Tshering Tobgay,
PDP President
Sub: Change of presidentship
Respected Sir,
I am an admirer of You and PM. But let me not mention of PM but suggest something about you. Since 2008 itself you tried to bring up PDP party as your baby. Now it has strengthened of late because of your persistent & aggressive approach. I appreciate for this. I understand you. But some people fail to understand you. They do not look deeply but superficailly and say your approach is “aggressive”. I said that your aggressiveness is not forced or artificail one but by birth. Your heart is soft and noble. You are not corrupted so far as you are not involved in galpoishing land scam, denchi land scam, prado tshogpa, city buses, pediatrian day, trowa theatre etc etc. Also some people also support you saying that such person is needed sometimes. So there is both supporter of you and some against.
However, many people both supporters and neutral ones and also even some dpt supporters feel that Damchodorji will be a better choice. Some said his whole family wiill vote if DD becomes president etc. Anyway now it is too late since you are very busy and such change might hurt yoour ego. But atleast can you do an exchange after the vote if your party wins. But it must be mentioned now itself if this simple recommendation is considered for the good of the party.
Sorry to convey this message. It does not mean i will not vote. I and my family voted DPT in 2008 but we are going to vote for you this time for “change”. But please think abovementioned suggestion if possible.
Your kind reply is needed immediately.
Your name is kota zemo but you seem to be father of nine children Janga Sum Nanga Sum Achinga Sum. Yes TT should forgo presidentship as suggested by kota zemo.
