PDP sweeps Dagana votes

Residents of Drujeygang-Tseza and Gozhi-Lhamoizingkha constituencies under Dagana turned up with much motivation to vote for their choice of party despite the long walk in the sun and heat.

And in the end, it seems their sojourn under the hot sun showed the results they desired as the two out of two People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidates came out victorious.

The PDP candidate Karma Dorji under Drujeygang- Tseza constituency secured majority votes over his opponent Sonam Jamtsho the DPT candidate who was the also the former MP of the constituency.

Karma Dorji, a teacher before joining politics, secured total votes of 4,585 from his 3,856 Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) votes and 729 postal ballots.

Sonam Jamtsho, the DPT candidate from Drujeygang-Tseza constituency secured 2,843 in votes in total (EVM-2,511, Postal Ballot-332).

Talking to this paper, Karma Dorji said, “I am very much glad that the people under my constituency have supported me even though I didn’t expect it. I promise my people that I will serve them better and live up to their expectations.”

The winner from Gozhi-Lhamoizingkha constituency, PDP candidate Ngeema Sangay Tshempo who defeated DPT’s Hemant Gurung secured 4,608 votes in total adding up his 4,100 EVM votes and the 508 postal ballots.

Talking to Ngeema Sangay Tshempo, he said “I am happy we are actually able to answer the nation as the whole nation wanted PDP to win, and we finally did it.”

In the meantime, people under the constituencies hope to see a better outcome from the new party for their dzongkhag.
