Police make numerous drug arrests in three cases

After a tip off received by the Jomotshangkha police, a search warrant was served to enter the house of a 43-year- old man from Lauri, Samdrupjongkhar on November 14.

Upon searching the house, the police found 27 kgs of dried marijuana, packed in one and half sacks. The suspect has been detained by the police for further investigation.

Meanwhile, on November 10, Thimphu police apprehended a 34-year-old tour guide from Barsam, Trashigang, and currently residing in Thimphu.

Police drug crackdown team seized 77 pieces of SP+ capsules and 16.6 grams of hashish. The suspect was apprehended with the help of an informer.

Similarly, on November 12, at around 8 pm, Tshimasham police arrested a 27-year-old DCM truck driver in connection to illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

Police seized 403 pieces of SP+ capsules and 74 tablets of N10 tablets. The substances were wrapped in a black plastic bag and hidden inside the cabin of the DCM truck.

Furthermore, the driver tested positive of drugs intake and has confessed to the crime, stating that he brought the drugs for self-consumption.

The suspect is from Bhara, Tendu, Samtse and he is under police detention for further investigation.
