Upon the invitation of His Majesty the King, Mr. Abdul Hamid, President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has arrived in the country yesterday and is on four days state visit to Bhutan.
This is a first visit to Bhutan by the President of the of Bangladesh. During the visit, the President will be received in audience by His Majesty the King and His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo.
Lyonchhen Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan and Lyonpo Damcho Dorji, Foreign Minister of Bhutan will call on the President of Bangladesh to exchange views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.
While in Bhutan, the President of Bangladesh will also address a joint session of the Parliament of Bhutan. Further, during the visit, the Speaker of the National Assembly and Chairman of the National Council will also call on President of Bangladesh.
The foreign ministry said that the first visit to Bhutan by the President will greatly contribute towards further strengthening of the close ties of friendship, cooperation and understanding between the leaders and the peoples of the two countries.
Bhutan and Bangladesh have traditionally enjoyed very close and friendly relations.
