Samdrup Jongkhar brings back the incumbent

The voters of Samdrup Jongkhar elected Jigme Wangchuk, 33 as their choice yet again. He secured 5,213 votes including postal ballot.

The two other contestants Kinga Dorji and Sangay Lhendup secured 2,434 and 1,784 votes respectively.

As he thanked the voters Jigme Wangchuk said the promises he made during the campaign would be addressed in parliament as he is now re-elected.

“I will raise issues that affect people in their day-to-day life,” said Jigme Wangchuk who was nominated from Lauri gewog. He said this is the most salient commitment he ever made to the people. He has pledged to serve the people of the dzongkhag with utmost dedication and humbleness with the rule of law.

Jigme Wangchuk was the former NC representative of Samdrup Jongkhar and he was nominated from Lauri gewog. The re-elected candidate was a teacher in Phuntsholing middle secondary school and later resigned to participate for the NC elections. He has a Bachelors degree in education from Paro College of Education.

Samdrup Jongkhar has over 23,728 eligible voters.
