On 21st March at around 9 am, the Vice Principal of Dechencholing Higher Secondary School lodged a complaint against a student who hit an expatriate teacher during the morning assembly. Based on the complaint, police have arrested the class nine student who is from Lhuntse.
During the morning assembly, a teacher on duty was giving a speech whereby the suspect along with his friend was found talking by the teacher. The teacher went near them and told them not to talk patting on the student’s head.
The two students then started abusing the teacher. The teacher again went near them and did the same thing patting around three to four times whereby the student got wild and punched the teacher. On the first punch the teacher fell down and the suspect again punched him for the second time.
The suspect picked a stone and threatened the teacher who was trying to hold and bring him under control. The student was taken to the lab later on where he broke the window glasses in anger.
Meanwhile, when interrogated the suspect, said that he never had the intention of abusing the teacher. The suspect actually abused a group of people who was laughing at him when the Indian teacher came to him and patted him on his head.
Upon repeated patting on his head by the teacher, he was embarrassed and punched the teacher. The suspect, along with the friend tested positive for marijuana. The friend has been sent to BNCA for counseling while the suspect is detained for further investigation.
The case is under investigation and the suspect is under Thimphu police custody.
