Students from CNR attends dairy training at NJBC

A release from the the National Jersey Breeding Centre under the Agriculture Ministry said a total of 40 students from the Department of Animal Science, College of Natural Resources (CNR) attended the dairy production program at the National Jersey Breeding Centre (NJBC) from 9th to 13th April. It is an annual program conducted joinly by CNR and NJBC to provide practical oriented dairy cattle management training to students.

The students learnt about the management of different categories. For the block week program, ‘Learning by doing’ approach is adopted rather than a rigid class room setting. Students will spend most of their time in the shed learning about cattle calf rearing, feeding, breeding, milking and record keeping. The program will ensure that every student gets 24 hours of practical experience in a farm setting.

A day long visit to different dairy enterprises and entrepreneurs in and around Samtse was also arranged for students.
