The voters of Trashiyangtse bid farewell to the Druk Chirwang Tshogpa (DCT) by not voting for the party in both parliamentary constituencies of Bumdeling –Jamkhar and Khamdang – Ramjar.
The DCT received just 184 combined votes of postal ballot and Electronic Voting Machine (EMV) votes from Bumdeling –Jamkhar constituency. A total of 28 postal ballots were received in their favor while 156 votes were cast through the EVM.
In the Khamdang–Ramjar constituency, DCT got 20 postal ballots and 189 votes through EMV.
The victorious party Druk Phuensum Tshogpa (DPT) after securing combined votes of 2,054 from postal and EVV stands as the clear winner followed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with 1,394 votes while DNT secured 300 votes only in Khamdang–Ramjar constituency.
At the Bumdeling –Jamkhar constituency, DPT topped with combined votes of 2,087, securing the second place is PDP with 1,200 followed by DNT with 374.
The voter turnout was good according to the returning officers in Trashiyangtse. Trashiyangtse has 17,493 eligible voters.
Despite heavy rainfall in the morning, people from the Bumdeling –Jamkhar constituency made their way to various polling stations in Trashiyangtse to cast their vote. With the improving weather later in the afternoon, more voters turned up.
Many voters expressed satisfaction on having voted for their choice of parties, the bad weather in the morning totally irrevelant.
