Thimphu police arrested a 24-year old university graduate and a 21-year old class XII drop-out on 13th May after they allegedly burgled a Damchen Impax showroom in Olokha, Thimphu.
They were arrested on charges of burglary, possession of burglary tools and criminal damage to property, according to a police department news release.
Police officials have recovered five Lenovo laptops and nine LG mobile phones from the suspects.
The miscreants had broken into the building, breaking the window glass with their hands. The incidence occurred at around 2am. The suspects fled from their residence at Olakha when the police arrived at the scene in the early morning hours. But the police were able to apprehend the suspects by following the trail of blood left by one of the suspects who was injured. The trail led to the Central Plaza from where he was taken to the hospital by one of his friends.
The injured suspect and his partner-in-crime refused to confess to the crime when the police interrogated them in the hospital. He said his hand got injured in a mishap. But later, they were caught when the officials interrogated his friend who being unaware of the act had brought the suspects to the hospital.
One of the suspects has been put behind bars while the other is recovering.
According to the Penal Code of Bhutan, the offence of burglary shall be a felony of fourth degree liable to three to five years of prison term.
