Two police personnel drown to death

Two non-commissioned officers of RBP based in Wangduephodrang drowned in Ruri chhu in Wangduephodrang on the evening of 16 March.

The two police constables were on the hunt for a medicinal frog during which both of them drowned to death. There were no eye witnesses in the incident but it was reported to police by one of their own men.

The bodies were found only on 18 March and handed over to family members. The investigation team also reached Wangduephodrang on 18 March.

One of the constables’ sisters was sick and he along with the other constable went in search for the medicinal frog. The victims who were Peljabs were 46 and 37 years old. One was from Punakha while the other was from Wangduephodrang.

One of the investigation team member said that it is too early for them to comment on the incident as they are still in the process of investigating the case.
